Meet Kathy Cruz ’15
Cruz is a weather anchor and producer at WFMZ-TV 69 News and an entrepreneur with a fashion boutique in downtown Allentown.
Kathy Cruz ’15, a film studies major and an English minor, came to Muhlenberg interested in learning about content creation. She enrolled as a transfer student through the School of Continuing Studies and got a job in the College’s Office of Media Services. It was through that work that she was recommended to her current job at WFMZ-TV 69 News, where she works as a weather anchor and producer.
After beginning her on-air career, Cruz began to get a lot of questions about the outfits and accessories she was wearing on television. This inspired her to start the fashion boutique Silveri & Company, which offers both retro and trendy pieces and is located in downtown Allentown.
Reflecting on her time at the College, Cruz says, “I went through a process personally and professionally with Muhlenberg that allowed me to be the person that I am today. They encourage critical thinking. They encourage new ideas. They provided a platform that allowed students to be independent.”
