Jessica Sperber graduated with a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Columbia University last year, then moved to Berlin, Germany, to work as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. Her research examines the biological embedding of social inequality via epigenetic pathways in childhood. She hopes her research can help reveal the social determinants of health and identify mechanisms that can help improve the developmental trajectories of children from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. In between writing her dissertation and planning an international move, Jess also ran the NYC Half-Marathon!
