Kyle Ropski

As a student, Kyle Ropski was encouraged by mentors on campus to get involved with the Allentown Environmental Advisory Council (AEAC). Not only did attending these meetings provide him real-world experience on how municipal governments approach sustainability, it also allowed him to engage with the community in a way that aligned with his passions. Following graduation, he moved to Allentown and was recently elected as the chairperson by fellow board members. In December 2024, the AEAC’s first sponsored/recommended piece of legislation during his term was passed by Allentown City Council. Bill 108 is an amendment to the Allentown city charter that requires temporary dumpsters in the public right-of-way to be covered when not in use to prevent illegal dumping and spread of contents. Kyle writes, “It’s a small win for environmentalists and a step in the right direction toward reducing the spread of litter in our city!”
